Cat Grooming in Woodstock, ON
Gentle, patient grooming for cats who'd rather be anywhere else right now.
Why Cats Need Grooming Too
Cats groom themselves, sure. But they can't clip their own nails or untangle mats behind their ears. Long-haired breeds especially need help keeping their coat from turning into a felt sculpture. Even short-haired cats benefit from a bath and brush a few times a year - it cuts down on hairballs and keeps their skin healthy.
We work with cats every week at Fur Elegance Pet Salon. Some are chill, some are spicy. We've seen it all. Our grooming setup is quiet and calm, and we move at your cat's pace. If your cat needs a break, we give them one. No drama, no forcing. Just clean fur and trimmed claws by the time you pick them up.
Serving Woodstock and nearby areas like Ingersoll and Tillsonburg, we're the team cat owners call when their regular brush routine isn't cutting it anymore.
What's Included in a Cat Groom
A standard cat groom starts with a bath using cat-safe shampoo. We rinse thoroughly, towel dry, and finish with a low-heat dryer if your cat tolerates it. Then we brush out the coat, working through any tangles or mats. Nail trimming is part of every appointment - we take just the sharp tip off so your furniture gets a break.
If your cat has serious mats, we'll carefully clip them out. For cats who shed like it's their job, our Deshedding Treatment add-on pulls out the loose undercoat before it ends up on your couch. We also clean ears and check for any skin issues. If we spot something that needs a vet's attention, we'll let you know.
Some cats do great. Others... less so. We're honest about what's realistic. If your cat is too stressed, we won't push it. Their comfort matters more than a perfect lion cut.
How We Handle Anxious Cats
Most cats don't love the grooming table. That's normal. We keep the space quiet, handle them gently, and talk to them the whole time. No loud clippers right off the bat. No sudden moves. We let them sniff the tools first if they want to.
If your cat needs a sanitary trim or a belly shave, we work in short sessions. Some cats do better with two people - one holding, one grooming. We've got the setup for that. And if your cat is a known scratcher, bring it up when you book. We'll plan accordingly and keep everyone safe.
We also groom dogs (check out our Dog Grooming and Puppy Grooming pages), but we schedule cats separately so there's no barking in the background. It makes a big difference for nervous kitties.
Pricing and Booking
Cat grooming starts around $70 for a basic bath and brush. Long-haired cats or those with mats run closer to $100-$120. If your cat needs sedation, that's a vet visit - we don't sedate here. But for most cats, a little patience and the right handling is all it takes.
We book cat appointments during quieter hours when possible. Call us or book online, and mention any quirks your cat has. Does he hate his back feet touched? Does she hiss at the sound of clippers? We want to know upfront. It helps us prep and makes the whole thing smoother for everyone.
Located in Woodstock, we also see clients from Tavistock and other nearby communities. If you're not sure what your cat needs, just ask. We'll walk you through it.
When to Bring Your Cat In
Long-haired cats should come in every 6-8 weeks, especially if they're getting mats. Short-haired cats can go longer - maybe twice a year unless they're shedding heavily or have skin issues. If you're finding clumps of fur or your cat's coat looks greasy, it's time.
Older cats sometimes stop grooming themselves as well. Arthritis makes it hard to reach certain spots. If your senior cat's fur is looking rough or matted near the tail, a professional groom helps them feel better. We're gentle with older cats and adjust our approach based on their mobility.
Not sure if your cat qualifies for Breed Specific Grooming? Persians, Maine Coons, and Ragdolls usually do. Give us a call and we'll figure out the best plan for your cat's coat type.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a cat grooming appointment take?
Most cat grooms take 1-2 hours depending on coat length and temperament. We don't rush. If your cat needs breaks, we build that into the appointment. You can drop off and pick up, or some owners prefer to wait if their cat does better knowing they're nearby.
Will you groom a cat that bites or scratches?
We'll try, but safety comes first. If your cat is too aggressive or stressed, we'll stop and recommend a vet visit where they can sedate if needed. Most 'spicy' cats do fine with us because we move slowly and don't force anything. Let us know your cat's history when you book so we're prepared.
Do you shave cats in the summer?
We can do a lion cut or sanitary trim if needed, but we don't shave cats down to the skin. Their fur protects them from sunburn and helps regulate body temperature. If your cat has bad mats or a skin condition, a shave might make sense. We'll talk through it with you first.
